Where is the optimum price/performance at the moment?

Is there ANYTHING to consider by Nvidia? I am sort of a Nvidia fanboy at heart, having only owned Nvidia cards in the past for their pretty good Binary Linux drivers - this isn't so important to me anymore as AMD driver support is adequate but I would miss Physx on games like Mirrors Edge.

GTX 660 mid range all rounder, 670 at the high end.

I know the 7950 has a very attractive price tag but after the sheer misery of the 7970 I had you would have to pry my GTX 670 from my dying grasp.

It's just been an absolute pleasure to own. Yeah they're £50 more than a 7950 but tbh I couldn't give a gnat's chuff.

The only Nvidia cards that offer a decent price/performance is the 670/660.

You can currently buy non ref 670 for £305, it's comparable to the 7950 for about £50 more, so if you're after Nvidia that's what i would buy.

What issues did you have with the 7970? Is there a thread I can read or something similar? Some sort of convincing not to get it heh

If it helps, i've not had any issues with either of my 7970s.
Other than CF issues :D

You'll always get somebody somewhere that has serious problems. Andy might have been that person (dont know, not been watching his problems?)

From having read Andy's posts, I'd say he was unlucky with his 7970 and that the problems he had weren't typical or minor. That is no reflection on himself, I just think he got dealt a pig of a card that no perfume could sort out. :D

Glad you're enjoying your 670, Andy. :)

I have the non Vapor dual fan 7950 card, and the cooling on that is marginal at best. That single fan 7950 Sapphire card is going to have bad cooling for overclocking (but fine on stock I would have thought).
