Hi guys, considering buying my next set of prescription glasses online.

Concerned a bit about returns, but it does seem a much cheaper way to go about it.

Any advice or recommendations on where to buy, etc?

Cool, I was wondering as these sites seem to have restrictions on refunds, and if they screw up I was wondering what happens since items customised to the customer's specifications aren't covered by the distance selling regulations act.

Seems like frames can be returned but lenses not.

Still seems like a good way to buy,

I went to Vision Express looked around found a pair, took note of manufacturer and model number then bartered 3 - 4 different etailers off against each other, in store cost £400 paid £150 for the same with same lenses

Why if the glasses don't sit right? Can you just take them to Specsavers and get them fitted properly?

Fitting shouldn't be a problem in another optician, however if the lenses aren't right this is where things might get sticky, since "customised" prescriptions aren't covered by the DSRA.

In the end I bit the bullet and bought from Metsuki and very pleased. Got a nice designer frame, thinner anti glare lenses all for less than the price of the frame from Vision Express. Very good service too.

You need to make sure you get your "PD" from your optician first to ensure the lenses are correctly positioned.

Be prepared for a fight with the opticians - They will try and keep it secret from you because they know you will be buying online. They may even try and charge you for the information. You should be entitled to it as part of your prescription following your eye examination.

Yeah i'm gonna buy frames online I think,

You can even order like 4-5 pairs and they let you try them on and send them back and then choose 1's you want to have lenses fitted into.

I need new pair of specs.

I used to get the £20 ones. Can in a cloth sewn envelope from Pakistan.

Prescription was spot on every time.

Buy the £6 pair of select and give em a try :)

Is this not quite easy to measure yourself?

Just to resurrect this thread.

I bought my glasses from Metsuki, and.... the best pair of glasses I ever had. I got rayban frames with carbon fibre arms, sounds like a gimmick but they aren't they flex but dont' deform. Haven't lost their shape since I got them back in January. Very light too. Got them with thinner lenses and 2 coatings for £150. Frame alone at Vision Express is £289!

Metsuki ordering system was superb, kept me informed of every step of the process. Frames were ordered from Italy and took 5 days to arrive.

On the downside, they have ceased trading now :(
