Hey,

I'm looking to build a very cheap rig that would, at least for the time being, be capable of playing games like minecraft. I've been out of the loop in terms of PC hardware for a while now so not entirely sure what to go for. Any recommendations? Ideally looking to spend £200 but I appreciate that isn't going to go very far. Perfectly happy to buy a slowish graphic cards then upgrade at some later point. Just need an alright rig to start with :) Don't need an OS.

Thanks for any help.

Do you have any spare parts knocking around, like sata hdd/odd, couple of sticks of DDR3 ram or a case?
And would you be happy with "B" grade items?

Well I'm actually building it for my Dad (he doesn't want to play minecraft but my little step bro does :)). I've got a graphics card he could use for the time being (4850) but it's so bloody loud. I've tried giving it a clean but no luck.

I'm not entirely sure about B grade items. If it's just a case of dodgy packaging or lack of manuals then yeah perhaps. I need the warranty though.

Do you need a Keyboard, Mouse & Monitor or just the tower?

Sorry should have mentioned this! Just need a tower.

Thanks dude! Not bad for the price. I think I will go for 4gb of RAM to knock the price down a bit further.

Any other suggestions guys?

Don't bother with the 4850 - the Trinity APU will be enough for their needs, and you can avoid the extra power consumption, heat and noise.

Well I've given this some thought. The price is very appealing but I'm slightly put off by the inability to possibly upgrade it at the later stage. What's the cheapest I could find an entry level PC that has the possibility of upgrading to decent CPU and GPU in the future? If I've got a rough idea then I could run the options pass my old man before making a purchase.

Thanks for any help!
