Hyper evo 212+ vs corsair 100i

Currently I have the evo 212+ debating to upgrade to the h100i . I have the 3570k oc'd to 4.5ghz

The H100i is a lot better as the price would suggest but a £50-60 dual tower heatsink would also be much better with less noise than both the 212 or the H100i, and be more reliable than the latter for half its price.

Run prime95 for 10mins and post your temperatures.

after 10 mins.. max was 65c on core 2

65c is a good temp.

Thats running prime for the last 10-15min 100% load, 4.5ghz at 1.11-1.25v

Temps usually go up to around 72-74 at max, would the h100i be an upgrade over the evo?

I have the H80i and my temps reach near 70c after a 1 hour on prime. These coolers work better when under full load then at idle. so I would say yes.

Of course, but £100 worth? Not for me. These temps are reasonable, you could probably get slightly better results with a dual tower cooler without having to spend a fortune (K2 Mount Doom, Phanteks, SilverArrow, Dark Rock Pro 2, that sort of beast). Would maybe get around high 60's.

Either way, your temps aren't in any kind of 'danger zone'. If you want to upgrade, do it to lower noise if it's a problem

The H100 won't solve that. A big air cooler will as you can run fans at lower speeds.

Search here on forum for H100i, H100, H80i, H80 and see how many members have posted with problems. Easy to find lots of them.

Then try and find problems with air coolers. Hard to find any.
