Thanks for the tweaks snips86x

Is the Plextor M5 a better SSD? As is the CPU cooler?

I don't need a GPU just yet, I plan to make do with an older one until funds are available.

The Intel one you spec'd uses the Sandforce controller. This controller is problematic and may well cause you issues in the future. The Plextor is a solid decent drive and on par with Samsung.

Same with the cooler, it a great cooler if your on a budget. You can spend more, £50-60, if you wish!

I been using that intel SSD a while now and it is great, No problems at all.

Boots up windows in under 10 seconds. :)

I've read about the sanforce controller.. A little confused now with what to go for.

The only thing that puts me off with that cooler is you need to take the motherboard out to change it, it's a little fiddly to attach and I'm not sure it will fit in a Zalman Z9 Plus.

If I had to go Sandforce, I'd go Intel. If you can afford a M5 Pro, or a Samsung 830 (or 840 pro), then go for it. Or find a cheap Crucial M4.

Quite possible. It's sometimes possible to swap the CPU cooler without removing the motherboard as you have a backplate cut-out at the back. It depends if the cut-out matches the CPU slot.

and I'm not sure it will fit in a Zalman Z9 Plus.

The case will fit 160mm coolers, so any single tower (except stuff like the Archon or the TS140), and also the NH-D14 will fit as well. I'd be more worried about the RAM fitting under that cooler.

The TS-120 is a great little cooler (Similar toa Hyper 212 evo), and the RAM should fit. However, if you replace with something more restrictive, you may have problems.

I still think the Matterhorn Pure is the best cooler in the £30 region.

Thanks for that :)

Went for the 128GB Samsung 840 Pro.

Do you think the RAM will fit with the Matterhorn Pure?
