Why oh why is the o: smilie on this forum ? Throughout internet history the o: smilie has represented . I hate having to type eek to get it (first world problem) and you often see posters yawning after a shocking comment.

I've just realised that colon can either be punctuation or anatomy. Thank you thread.

I think it's cause you very rarely see the word colon referred to in the context of punctuation.
