£1000 budget...ish. Let's get a gaming rig!

Might go for a i5 then if that's the case. I normally just use the motherboards overclock feature as I'm a bit impatient with testing clocks. I'm not the kind that pushes to the max anyway, just want a bit more bang for my buck.

It's the motherboards which loose me. So many and the prices are all over the place. With AMD motherboards they don't seem to get higher than £200. I know I want good ram placement though as it drives me crazy when the heatsink gets in the way.

Oh I know what I wanted to ask. I'm not skilled enough for custom watercooling but what are these contained coolers like?

i think most people get them for the look, or bcos it has corsair written on it im not sure
i guess it does look kinda nice through the window if you have a corsair case

if they get cheaper and less noisy ill like them more^^

Ah if it's noisy it's out. Just figured this might be the future to cooling but if it's not yet then I will stick to a nice chunky heatsink and fan.

its mostly for looks, which isnt a terrible reason
tho does kinda make sense for lans too or if move the pc a lot, better to have the big heavy bit hanging off the case and not the motherboard

i dont mind them its just the fans usually need replacing and the pump isnt silent
ends up same cost as custom watercool

i put a noctua c14 on my last build, which i guess isnt a cheap cooler but it does 4.4 without even trying with just one fan on it, so you could go cheaper/smaller for sure

i think its 4.6+ where you start to need the crazy cooling

If you stick with low profile memory then you can pretty much choose any air cooler, providing it fits in your case of course.

How do you format specs btw? I assume you are not doing them by hand?

Right so these things are settled on. RAM, GFX and Cooler are the things left. I want to order this tonight so trying to get it all down.

Let's say my budget is £1350. What would you pick? Out of the 3 items left?

EDIT: I have a Corsair HX620 psu so going to keep it so no psu needed.

I would go with something like this. Changed the SSD as it is cheaper than the Samsung, and just as good. The RAM is a great price for 8GB. Changed the board to the Z77X-D3H as it still does xfire. If you need the extra features from the other board then obviously change it back :D
