Hi,

(Processor i'm going to be using is an i5 3750k)

I'm trying to decide which GPU to buy, The GTX 660 or the ATI 7950.

Would I see a big differents in performance, With a ATI 7950 over the GTX 660 for the price differents?

Overclocked the 7950 is a match in games for any nvidia/amd chip. Sure there's gtx680/7970 lightnings that can go above but a good 7950 is good money spent atm. I guess what i am trying to say is your experience on a 7950 that overclocks well, which the majority do will be no different to any top end card bar 7990/gtx690.

Money saved at the end of the day.

ATI will always win when comparing cost and performance, but the real question is how well they support driver updates and compatibility with different systems.

Not always, GTX570 (£240-£260) was faster than 6970 (£280-£320) last gen. While it had less vram, but it matters very little until the mainstream game such as BF3 was out that it was "starting" to have some impact...but the fact was that GTX570 was still cheaper to buy.

Cheaper by 20 quid, whereas the 7950 is £100 cheaper than the 670. Seriously, AMD have never been more expensive than Nvidia to the scale Nvidia is to AMD.

Assuming you mean the 660Ti then it depends entirely what games you play as those two will trade places depending on the games involved.

I recently moved from a boost edition 7950 to a GTX670 and saw a noticeable improvement in the games I play as they favour Nvidia (WoW/D3/Borderlands 2/Et al).

I went from an overclocked 7850 that was close to a 7950 and could beat a 660ti in most cases to an overclocked 7950 and i saw quite a boost in the frame rate in all the games i play.

AMD seem to be much better value for money this gen. I don't really get why Nvidia have kept their prices high for so long when they don't have top performance. Greed or just plain stupidity?

Brand awareness, an army of loyal Nvidia fans on the internet singing for Nvidia keeps the prices nice and high for them.

They can still sell them in just about the same amount no mater what the price, fan loyalty is the best form of advertising there is.

I agree Humbug, Although if AMD had not have asked such a high price the first few months after the 7950 and 7970 were released i would have an amd in my pc right now instead of nvidia.

If there was some competition when they were released then i expect the prices would have been lower.
