**ASUS ARES2 AVAILABLE FIRST FROM OcUK (NOW IN STOCK)!!**

I wouldn't say the price is ridiculous. It's expensive yes, but it's not a standard card and must've cost them a fair bit to design and build.
On top of that, being the fastest graphics card out of the box adds a premium and being a collectors item for some. I'm not surprised at the price and nor to i think it's ridiculous or over the top.

I don't even bother looking at HardOCP's reviews any more. They mix and match settings on different cards, they always have Nvidia beating AMD in sleeping dogs. Its all bull.

Wow!
Turns out this card is better than i first thought. The watercooling really works and isn't loud as hell and it can overclock.

Well they didn't last time i looked. I think it will take more than that to change my opinion of them though, not that they care. :p

True! :D

I think they do a like for like comparison if they've got different settings in their 'Maximum Playable Settings' bench but I do agree it's an odd way to do it as the definition of playable is entirely subjective.

There's a brief arrogant reason to their benchmarking here: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2008/02/11/benchmarking_benchmarks

Basically, Kyle Bennett is a bit of a **** and likes to mix things up a bit different for some attention, negative or otherwise.

I am surprised at the review though, given the fact he's in bed with Galaxy. But then again they don't have anything on the market to compete with this.

hmm, its a shame that they put the pumps in the cards blocks... You could simply pull those tubes off and add it to an already running loop easy enough.
But i worry that those two pumps are weak and would simply be pointless if say you had a D5 running with it.

I recall the review of 2x ARES2 and although it was very impressive in some benchmarks - here is the review with Metro2033 amongst others - they had issues with quad crossfire: Anno 2070 "4-way GPU Crossfire mode did not work, the CFX mode resulted into only one GPU being used" You'd need a monitor capable of 120Hz/144Hz to make the most of that setup, even so one would be plenty.
