I have a gigabyte windforce x3 7950 standard 900mz , and 1250 memory

in msi afterburner, i left the voltage standard and tweeked the others

+20%
1000 core
1400 memory

but when i start to load a game up it frezes with this error

DirextX function ''Get DeviceRemovedReason'' failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badley formed commands
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7900 series ''Driver 12.11 (9.01.8-121202a-150272e-ATi)

is this because i just moved them abit to far over standard? after this happened, i have put them back to standard and left them lol

thanks
ian

Hmm. Try leaving the memory at stock speed and try the core at 1000 again.
It really shouldn't have a problem with this or the settings you tried.

What's the stock voltage in afterburner?

You may also get some good advice for this in the Graphics card sub-forum. Plenty of other owners in there :)

been having abit more of a play, at stock volts i can get this
+20%
1000 core
1350 mem

on a non OC in haven i am getting this
score 2103
fps 83.5
min 37.4
max 158.9
gpu temp 55c

i have been playing around with the volts in msi, and have got this oc so far
volts 1188
core 1100
mem 1400
% +20

in haven i got this
score 2555
fps 101.4
min 45.4
max 202.3
temp 60c

im going to try a few games to see what the oc is like.

what do you think?

thanks
ian

i have a wf3 7950 and currently run these settings:

stock volts(1.093v):
+20%
1000 core
1450 mem

voltage tweak
1.225v
+20%
1150 core
1450 memory (could push this higher but dont think there are any real world gains to be had or am i wrong?)
this is my 24/7 clock
runs at 55c-60c max

i have a poor asic of 59.9% its debated if this makes any difference though.

my asic is 58%

Strange. You should be scoring late 1900's at least with at those clocks @1080p.

As for the voltage. The windforce 7950's all seem to be pretty low asic given that most users need about 1.225v for 1150 on the core.
Fwiw, my last 7950 did 1150 with only 1.131v. Ah well, if it works, it works I guess. Just as well the WF has a great cooler.

just had a quick game of mohw, and i just uped the volts to 1200, core is 1100, mem 1400

is it safe/ok to leave it like this all the time?

if i was going to load the standard save in msi, the volts stay the same. the 1225, is that the max they will go, and use less if its not needed, or is it set that high all the time?

thanks ian

p.s my cpu is running standard clock of 3.4 at the mo

Not sure why, but mine arrived with 1Ghz on the core, and more on the memory. Runs fine at that but seemed unstable overclocked more.
