Hi Guys,

I purchased this card a while back from OC

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-148-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

I have some queries regarding temps, I am running it at stock and it idles at around 60c and under load around 80c. I thought this was normal until I started looking around as the fan noise was starting to annoy me. I even bought some more case fans to help with ventilation but this didn't seem to help.

Are these temps right?

Thanks, Do I go through OCUK ? or is this something I am going to have to go through MSI with do you think? I bought it in Nov last year.

never RMAd anything before

That was the time when lots of people were having issues with them.

Just contact OcUK and they will issue you with an RMA number. MSI are good and shouldn't take long to swap over.

Edit:

Fill in the details in the RMA section.

Tried to RMA and they are claiming that these are normal temperatures.

Here we go :(

Weird how all the others with the same problems had no issues RMAing their cards

I would search through these forums and pick out the many threads of users having the same temp issues and link to them in the CS section.

how many monitors are you running? 60c is high but it wont be entering idle clocks with two monitors or more and will run full speed=higher temps at idle

RU using one monitor ?

If your using two or more this would affect your idle temps,
however your load temps do seem high.

A little surprised at OCUK's reply as they do know of issues with some MSI cards

80 is toasty already. no way it could reach that on stock without some problem in the card/cooler. perhaps cite the complaint thread that was on here around your purchase time?

Mine will not rise above the mid to high 60s (29ish idle) with a middling oc (1050/1500) with the fan on auto.
It is the V1 version but all the same I think that saying your V2 temps are normal is questionable.

2 Monitors.

I do get a slight drop in temps on idle when running one monitor it idles around 43-48 under load however it is still high on load 75-78. The temps wouldn't be so bad but the noise the fan makes around the 70-80s drives me mad.

I would call ocuk and discuss. I returned mine with no quibbles whatsoever.

What a load of bull. Many people have rma'd their cards which have the same exact problem as yours.

However, I got the v2 and with an oc of 1150/1800 @ 1.81 mine idles at 27c and full load it's 70c with 70% fan profile. That's with a big overclock on the card. If I put the card to stock settings the temps don't go above 60c with auto fan which is about 45%. Something is deffiently wrong with yours.

I have replied to my initial RMA but if I still don't have any luck I will just call tomorrow I think.

I have been an OCUk customer for years now and never had any problems although I have never had to RMA anything before. I hope this experience ends well I would hate to have to stop using them :(

Thanks again guys for your help. Good to know I am not just being paranoid with these temps.
