Thanks - I need to make a final decision.

My plan was to build this gaming PC along with buying a new Xbox 360 and TV. Coming to think of it, it's a silly decision to buy both, but even if I do hold off buying the 360 and TV, I don't want to spend more than £500 on the build.

In terms of longevity, would the PC be the better way to go in terms of gaming? And overall, as it stands, the above PC would vastly out perform an Xbox 360 if the same titles were played side by side?

Cheers

The Xbox 360 and PS3 are due for replacement either this year or next so new releases will be limited for either platform in the near future.

As for the other part of your question there is a video on youtube that stars a Canadian on speed and its titled "Xbox 360 vs PC Ultimate Gaming Showdown with Battlefied 3" should give you some idea, but remember that most games these days are just direct ports.

Thanks, that video was really helpful!

I remember my biggest shock when watching an Xbox 360 in motion was how awful the graphics looked, atleast the high end PC games generally should look a lot better than Xbox!

So, if I was to build that PC, would the graphics card keep up to date for the next year or so?

Cheers

It should last about 3 years before it starts to get outdated and you have to start turning things down a bit or just overclock it abit more (overclocking maybe limited by the PSU here, but that said the total power draw should at stock be about the 320 Watt range), but remember you could always sell it and use the money (with a bit more out of your pocket) to buy a shiny new one ;) can't do that with a console.

I forgot the fact I don't need a DVD Drive. Already got a few spare!

I think I would feel a bit more comfortable with a better PSU though, which one should I go for?

Cheers

Would it be worth actually keeping with the same PSU (430W) but spending the extra on the K version of the CPU incase I did want to OC in the future?

Yeah that wouldn't be a problem, you could upgrade the PSU and overclock the whole thing at a later date ( some overclocking will even be possible with this unit even )
