Refund for postage charge?

Before Christmas we ordered a mini hi-fi system bundle with wireless headphones for my dad.

Upon receipt of the package it soon became apparent that there was no socket for the headphones! Yep that's right a bundle with no way of using the included headphones.
The matter was investigated and the package was withdrawn from their website due to me raising this issue.

The retailer was reasonably quick to deal with about this matter and we returned the goods for a refund with a postage paid sticker supplied by them.

However, I've since noticed that the original postage charge of £12 wasn't refunded to me.

Fair enough if I had changed my mind, however, I bought the package in good faith and have been left out of pocket through no fault of my own.

Do I have any sort of leg to stand on for having this charge refunded?

I paid using a credit card if that makes and difference and I'll probably wind up ringing them to see if they can refund the charge if I have no joy from the retailer.
 
When you returned it, did you tell them you were doing so because it wasn't as described?
Or because as you mentioned above briefly, because you changed your mind?

Given that they removed the deal from the website, I'd contact them again and ask, as they may be good about it.

On the downside, if they are an arsey retailer, they may so no, because perhaps the specifications of the system make it clear, despite it being bundled stupidly with a set of headphones.
 
I emailed them prior to posting this thread but I was trying to find out if I had a leg to stand on should they become difficult.

It's just between you and the retailer really.

Its a tiny sum of money to be getting involved with a credit card company or small claims court action. Infact, I've heard some say that various banks even have a minimum limit before they will get involved.

I returned it because the system couldn't be used with headphones, we would have gladly kept the unit had this not been the case.

The specs on their website don't state that there is a headphone socket, the retailer contacted the manufacturer once I raised the problem with them and they confirmed that there's no headphone socket on that model.

There isn't going to be any small claim court action :confused:

And whilst it is a small amount I'm old fashioned and don't much care for paying for the mistakes of others if I can manage it.

The point I was making is that your only option is to speak to the retailer, explain that the product was no good because it wasn't as described and ask them to refund the postage you paid for it to originally be delivered.

You have no other leg to stand on because if they decide not to refund you the postage, its a silly sum of money to try and do anything else about.

Does that make sense now?

Apart from approaching my credit card provider to see if they can assist, I wasn't referring to legal action, what a ridiculous notion.

Is that clear enough?

Err...

You asked for options and I gave them to you. Legal action is one, but as is clear its ridiculous for such a small sum. It's also a lot of hassle for a chargeback from your bank, who will require you get in touch with the retailer to argue your case first anyway.

As I think has been made clear a number of times now, you need to ring the retailer and state the issue. You have created a thread for a problem that doesn't exist yet because you haven't heard from the retailer having only just raised the issue.
