You could end up ruining a lot of your components if you're not careful.
If you want to hear something scary, I actually work in IT and have done so for 4 years, even have an A+ and other certification.

Reading the manual turned out to be a good idea.
I also missed standoffs my first time. I had never built before, just upgraded. Luckily spotted the second IO did not line up!
Reading the manual is a must when it comes to stuff like this.
Ikea furniture, Ok an idiot can do it, but piecing something together without reading just because you work in IT is a no go. Ask your average mechanic to find a fault with a car and they would be likely to find it, like you in IT. But give him the 50,000 parts the car is made of and say build me a car, he would break more then he would actually put together properly..

Only time I need to check the manual is for them little cables![]()
Were the certificates purchased on eBay?![]()
Really dude RTFM, those little cables for reset/pwr/LED can be a right PITA
Finger crossed you've not caused any damaged with the whole pop/bang/smoke comment
+1 part of the A+ is being a PC technician and they show you how to build a computer ..... or they used to.
