Forget horse meat, it's pork in Halal prison grub now.

In an event the will see a lot less gags on TV and far more on mobile phones than the Tesco Horse burger scandal, it seems some firm has been supplying UK prisons with supposed halal meat that contained traces of pork DNA.

You thought a few stern letters and a small drop in sales for Tesco was bad, you wait for the impending riots over this. ;)

It doesn't matter though because the Qu'ran says this....

He has made unlawful for you that which dies of itself (caracas) and blood and the flesh of swine and that on which the name of any other than Allah has been invoked. But he who is driven by necessity, being neither disobedient nor exceeding the limit, then surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.

So actually no Islamic law has actually been broken, Allah's pretty cool about it, but that will probably be forgotten.

They should all be on bread and water, prisoners probably eat better than some pensioners and low income families in this country.

I think your expecting too much :) maybe a few complaints and rightly so, but no riots I assure you ;) prisoners haven't broken any rules as is out if their hands and eaten unknowingly.

Didn't even know that prisons served Halal.

Disappointed that this wasn't the first response. Beggars can't be choosers and whilst prisons shouldn't starve people, the option should simply be "take it or leave it".

If they didn't commit the crimes to get sent to prison in the first place, then they wouldn't be in this predicament. No sympathy for them here. Now, I wonder how long it'll be before the public purse has to stump up wads of cash to compensate these people and send them to counselling?

They are already screwed in the eyes of Allah by committing crimes that warrant a prison sentence in the first place, so a bit of pork isnt going to do any more harm.

That's not really the point though is it. They don't want to eat it and they feel strongly about it, so giving it to people under a false pretence is pretty damn bad.

Hopefully standards will rise across the board after these gaffs.

Pretty sure they have ;)

At the end of the day I don't give a flying whooha what their beliefs are. They are in a prison, not a premier inn.

So the actual words in the teachings of the religion don't matter?

Oh look, a potentially controversial topic in GD concerning a commonly misunderstood Islamist belief - I'll bet this will produce a whole bunch of insightful and poignant comments that are as beneficial to me as Mr. Rogers' Fully Intentional Lecture On How To Identify And Avoid Paedophiles.

****ing score.

I'm sorry but, huh?

Clearly they are in prison, and not premier in. Not sure what what that has to do with op.

They have done something wrong. That is why they are in prison. In prison, certain freedoms are taken away. Like say, the freedom to chose your meal. That freedom isn't taken away when you stay in a permier inn, as you haven't done anything wrong.

Which is why I don't really care what they are fed, so long as it is not inhumane. They could be made to chow down on bacon butties dipped in cider for all I care. If they really cared about their diet, they wouldn't have done something to put it at risk.

Come on man, it's hardly rocket surgery!

Clearly you are not rocket surgeon :)

I think the issue here is the meal offered isn't as described. Anyhow it appears you are not one for rational reasoning so I will leave you to it.
