Lg optimus 4x hd

Pretty much what nexus 4 is just with sd slot and different case.. so youre better of getting n4 while they are still in stock.

Your mistakenly confusing the 4x HD to the Optimus G. The 4x HD is becoming pretty dated as it was released much earlier then the Optimus G and the Nexus 4.

OP if you can find any way to muster the funds to buy the Nexus 4 outright rather then going into a contract I would do that. You will both save money and end up with a much better phone in the long run.

The Nexus 4 can be found for £239 (8GB) or £279 (16GB) directly from the Google Play store.

In stock though?

My wife has the 4x and I've extensively played & messed around with it so I've made a pro's and con list for ya based on my hands on and the wifes comments.

Pro's
> The screen is jaw dropping. I much prefer IPS panels to the SAMOLED on my Note. Colours are rendered beautifully and not falsely over saturated and its a lot better outdoors than my Samsung
> Build quality is very good.
> It sits really nice in the hand
> Micro SD slot
> Its very cheap for a quad core handset

Con's
> The radio (as in mobile reception) doesn't seem as good as some other handsets. We are both with EE and in strong signal areas hers has been known to show very weak signal where mine show a full H+. It also performs very poorly in low signal areas and really doesn't hold on when you are in a 1 or 2 bar area. This is the wifes biggest gripe with it as where she's works is not well covered.
> No Jelly Bean (so no project butter) and LG still have'nt confirmed whether or not its getting it. LG's history of software support is quite poor.
> Battery life is poor. Standby times are ok but once in use you'll struggle to get a day out of it.
> The camera is quite poor particularly for video.
> It takes ages to charge up, no idea why.

Hope that helps :)

No they aren't, still 2-3 weeks shipping time. I wouldn't call that 'in-stock'.

If you read the main N4 thread you'll see that there people are getting them through within a couple of days of ordering. So yes, they are "in stock."
Google are probably saying "2-3 weeks" for a bit of leeway.

Ah didnt know that.

Back to the topic though, I'm not seeing a better phone for £18.50 p/m than than 4x if I'm honest.

Due to the completely idiotic way Google handles pre-orders (which these effectively are as there's not a stockpile of handsets waiting to be sent out) it's basically down to luck when it gets sent out. Some people who ordered at 3pm Wednesday (when Google started selling them again) and others who ordered on Thursday got there's delivered the next day, while others who ordered on Wednesday haven't even had their phones sent out. I ordered at 5pm Wednesday and my order is still pending.

Basically if you ordered now it could arrive this coming week, the week after, or even the week after that, there's no way to know exactly when.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm considering one of these on a cheap contract, purely because a SIM-only contract is barely any cheaper than getting this phone. I don't like touchscreen-only phones so would keep this as a spare or maybe sell it, but I'm curious - a review I read mentioned the screen had a gap between it and the protective glass, which the reviewer said was quite distracting compared to other phones where it's right below. Is this something you have noticed at all? Seems like a potentially big problem to me. The same review also said the battery life was excellent, though, in contrast to your real world experience, so perhaps they're talking out of, well, somewhere.
