Had to replace my mobo which had 24 & 4 pin arrangement.

New mobo is 20 & 8.

Bought bitfenix pre braided cable for the old arrangement, can I cut the a 4 pin block off the 24 pin lead and use the 4 pin block with my other 4 pin block to fit the 8 pin arrangement?

Will the 20 pin left still work?

What motherboard are you using?

MSI z77a-g45

It's the one with the 20pin & 8pin arrangement, my psu leads have the fittings to work with it natively as it has two 4 pin connectors for the mobo and a 20 + 4 arrangement for the mobo.

I just don't want to have to throw the per braided cables away, they are two weeks old and if I can't mod them they are useless.

Looking at the specs the board uses 24pin ATX connector and 8 pin for CPU power, which you should be able to use only 4pin.

Ok so I will not need to change the main lead and can use just 4pin connector in the 8pin socket?

Will only connecting the 4pin into the 8pin socket cause any issues?

Using only 4 pin should be ok, if your wanting todo extreme overclocks with Phase or LN2 them I would recommend 8, but for normal a little overclocking you should be fine.
