Did anyone go to this University? Could you tell me what its like and if you enjoyed it, I would also like to know a bit more about Bristol nightlife

I visited an open day today, and I have to say, i loved it. The lecturers seemed nice and what I saw of the campus was good to.

I can get the grades that they offered me so its pretty much my firm choice.

You won't regret going to Bristol, best 4 years I've had and I'm itching to get back!

I go to UoB so you're definite scum ;)

But Bristol is fantastic, couldn't ask for a better city and more varied nightlife. Love the place.

My fiancée went to UWE, specifically the Hartpury College part of the campus (which is way off near Gloucester). She did from time to time trek to the Bristol campus and pretty much was in love with the place. She found the support given to her by the faculty was second to none and that she thoroughly enjoyed the course thanks to the students/staff at Hartpury and UWE. So basically, yeah... you could do worse than UWE!

Nightlife she had no opinion of because she doesn't like going out and getting drunk--so there we go!

Thanks for the replies so far

should have specified on this, thats not my kind of thing either. I love going to gigs, and I know that Bristol does very well on that front.

I did my Sociology degree there and loved it. It's a shame theyre closing down st matts campus, which was beautiful, and moving everything to frenchay. Bristol is very good for music and it's the one thing I miss about the place.

Oh yeah, what kind of music and activities are you into? I don't drink so can offer plenty of non alcohol centred advice. I suggest the paintball society

Metal. I'm going to do Computer Science so I think joining a society would be good to meet different types of people. I also want to join the rugby team, do you know anything about that? Cant find much online

I'm at UWE, it's fine. There's eleventy million degrees in the Computer Science family from traditional Computer Science/Computer Systems Integration/Software Engineering, through down to ones that mix in modules from the Business Studies family such as ITMB.

One comment I would make compared with friends at other Unis is that we've got lots of older/retired lecturers who worked in industry once and then wanted to slow-down and teach instead, whereas other Unis seem to have lots of career academics. I much prefer it how we've got it, as the lecturers have got plenty of real world experience and know what the real world is outside of academia (it's really obvious to us students which are the couple of lecturers who have never worked).

Bristol is an amazing city, I've also known several people who have gone to UWE and speak very highly of their time there.

Wife spent 3 years at UoB and 1 year at UWE and lived about half way between the two.

Bristol nightlife is great, not too many idiots and massive variety of things to do.
I kinda miss not living in Bristol, but I have gotten used to living in a sleepy seaside town now so I think going back is not really an option!

Friday night at Bierkellar will be your night out if you like metal. I saw Chimaera there years ago and it was epic!
