3570k vs 2500k dilemma

So here's my dilemma; I'm currently building my girlfriend a PC based off of old parts from me. So far it has an Asus P8P67, 8gb Corsair Ven RAM, MSI GTX 570. I currently have a 2500k. Do I buy a 3570k and take advantage of my Z77-GD65 motherboard and PCI 3.0 GPU (obviously there's little to no difference gain) and then put the 2500k with the new build or do I just buy another 2500k, trouble is both are the same price. Most she'll be using it for is Photoshop, illustrator etc, as far as gaming goes probably non other than solitaire. Me I'll be doing gaming, 3D modelling with Autodesk Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop etc, I'm not spending a £100 more for hyper threading with an i7 so don't mention it, it's not worth it. Any thoughts are more than welcome :)

Have you considered getting i3 for your girlfriend ? it is pretty good cpu too and should be enough to handle photoshop and some apps, and you could save even more :) .
For yourself get a 3570k as u will be able to take its full advantage over 2500k.

Keep the 2500k and buy an i3 or Pentium for the other machine. A 2500k would seem a bit wasted on a bit of light photoshopping.

Hmm interesting, I never considered an i3, what i3 would be go to go with the system stated already and wouldn't bottleneck the 570?

Does it matter if it's not going to be playing anything more challenging than solitaire?
:p I'd sell the 570 and use a cheaper, quieter, less power hungry card for the usage you give in your OP.

The i3 is a good option and the GTX 570 is over powered for the tasks..

Adding a 2500k (and buying the 3570k for yourself) seems the best option to me though as then it is another gaming system in-case she get into gaming or yours breaks..

As you have most of peices already would be silly not too. :)

Yeah it's probably easier to buy the 3570k and put my 2500k in there as its a lot harder to sell the 570 than I originally thought. Already tried to sell it on many occasions and it won't sell, so I thought rather than selling the parts that are quite old now I'll build another rig out of them for my girlfriend, I mean the parts are still bloody good, even the gpu I managed to overclockers to 800mhz no problem and you can throw any game at it, she might get into gaming, she plays sometimes and is interested :)

Yup that's what I'm definitely doing now, basically I'm going to get a Coolermaster hyper 212 to cool the 2500k, overclock it to about 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz just so it's getting some overclock :) and then chuck in a 60gb Intel ssd for boot and core program's and 500gb for storage and last but not Least a Corsair CX 600w PSU for good measures, how's that all sound?

Good cheap cooler its currently in special offer at ocuk store. I have checked some reviews and seems like u will get decent temps with it after OC.
