Importance of active VRM cooling?

Still undecided. I can afford one but would idealy like to go with 2 from the off. They could be popular and sell out in no time at all and then I will be regretting waiting.

I know what you mean though PGI. I have had to explain how I need them big time. So long as the better half gets her Holiday, she will be happy :)

Buy me a 7950 while you're thinking about it. C'mon man, share the love :p

That's what im saying it obv can be done better so why don't they? It would cost them nothing really its just greed and cheapness why they don't.

I think its more to do with how they are cooled at stock, is within the limits for stock clocks, provided they hit the stock clock and don't burst into flames I don't suppose AMD/Nvidia are all too bothered, they leave the better cooling to partners and 3rd party coolers unfortunately.

I'd get pre-orders in ASAP if I were you, I have a gutt feeling they are going to be a very limited run.

Are you really going to get 2 x 7970's?

Yeah i suppose but then why do they go on about overclocking as one of the main features of the better chips?

The way it sounds to me is technology is limited again by sheer greed, if they wanted to they could make it cooler and it wouldn't be much more expensive.

The titan is out the blue and supposed to be this and that just proves they can do better but are milking it all they can.

Its like cars, they can make better engines and alternatives to petrol but too much money in it.

Greg was on about the first internet thing earlier? Bt kept us on dial up for ages and wouldn't move to fibre until virgin media forced their hand.

Such a greedy world :/

Welcome to the world of capitalism. Companies are there to make money - AMD, nVidia, Intel et al. Deal with it :D.

:D Go on you know you want to :D

I'll probably end up single if I chuck £700-800 on a single "PC part" (as she calls it). Could be worth the risk...

Hope they get enough as I'm talking myself into getting two and then hoping that with the limited run we see some blocks for them.

Hahaha

Yeah its expensive i even think 450 for a 680 is too expensive for one part.

I know im sick of my money going nowhere, i wish we were more like America its so cheap there!

Thats a little more polite then what my mrs calls it, its usually something along the lines of "more computer *****"

Don't spend it then. It's that simple. A company will set a price based on the cost of a production and then based on what they think will return them the most profit. (very simple version)

nVidia are obviously very happy with their margins on current pricing so really there's no point whinging about pricing.

You may think America is cheap but when you factor in social costs (health insurance et al) and state tax then it's pretty similar. You can't just compare like for like it's not that simple.
