Dell xps M1730 prone to having a short shelf-life? I need to replace my graphics card as it decided to go last night on the eve when I needed the damn laptop the most !!! Are there any alternatives other than Nvidia graphics cards?

A quick google shows a lot of GPU deaths... something doesn't sound right at all :p. Maybe it's better to get a new laptop instead?

Theres something about Dell and graphics cards. I used to use Dell PCs and have seen 3 possibly 4 graphics cards fail running them at stock. Since I have been building my own PCs I have used quite a few graphics cards and have not had 1 fail, this is dispite me giving some of them a good workout.

Something about Dell laptops full stop. I have had so many people ask me to have a look at faulty laptops and Dell are the clear winners in that.

Yes. The SLI spec was too hot for the space it was crammed into. Massively high failure rates.

See also - many Alienwares and especially the MALX.

I had a Dell laptop years ago with a powerful gpu. It went one month out of warranty. Never again

I had an M1730 a couple years ago, It had three lots of graphics cards replaced under warranty.

In the end I got a brand new replacement (I had to fight for it) then sold it.

Never again.
