I think you misunderstand me Moses.
Finally, took him long enough. Why the sudden change of heart?
You say that as though it's a bad thing. What's the point in keeping him somewhere super harsh? He's basically zero threat/must be close to the lowest end of the scale in terms of dangerous people in our prison system, so shirley moving him to a low category prison early on makes sense? House him in a suitable category prison, then start on the rehabilitation ;3.
He'll get a prison sentence if convicted. Several months, most likely.
They'll never stick him in with the normal convicts. He'll go to some minimum security halfway house. Prob serve less then half of any sentence given.
But still allegedly perverting the course of justice.![]()
Finally, took him long enough. Why the sudden change of heart?
Why would you expect anyone who's been convicted of such a minor crime to be sent to a maximum security prison anyway?
Going to be interesting now to see which parties enter and who they field for the by-election. Eastleigh is a pretty strong LibDem area, the council is 40 LibDems and 4 Conservatives, with the LibDems increasing their seats at the local elections in 2012.
I bet those text messages went down well
Edit:
PH: “We all know that you were driving and you put pressure on Mum. Accept it or face the consequences. You’ve told me that was the case. Or will this be another lie?”
CH: “I have no intention of sending Mum to Holloway Prison for three months. Dad”
PH: “Are you going to accept your responsibility or do I have to contact the police and tell them what you told me?”
PH: “I don’t want to speak to you, you disgust me, **** off.”
PH: “You are the most ghastly man I’ve ever known. Does it give you pleasure that you have lost almost all of your friends?”
PH: “You just don’t get it.”
CH: “Happy Christmas. I love you”
PH: “I hate you so **** off.”
Such a minor crime that the maximum penalty is Life imprisonment.
The reason it is there is that perverting the course of justice undermines the whole idea of having a Justice system.
The saying that, you would really have to be doing something so outrageous to attract that penalty.
Huhn hasn't really hurt anyone other than himself. He is a fool to say the least. If he had accepted the speeding ticket it would have resulted in points and a fine - now it it has cost him his job as an MP and more importantly he is marked out as dishonest.
He'll probably get 18 months, serve 9 and it will be in a low category prison.
Thing is, can't "Mum" still be guilty as well as the charge is perverting the course of justice, not speeding. She should have just kept her trap shut imo.
The real sickener will be when Huhne gets out after 8 or so weeks and then walks into some six-figure executive job.
Never really understood it anyway. I mean why isn't everyone who's found guilty of a crime that pleaded not guilty given a conviction for trying top pervert the course of justice too?
