Ok, so my first Superbowl was Superbowl XLVI, but following on from XLVII, I've decided to try and watch it a bit more next year. As such, I need an NFL team to support!

Seems like it'll be much more fun to watch than the Premier League....

So, how does one decide? Pick from a hat? Possible, but I feel too random. I like using logic for mine.

I found a flow chart, the first question was 'People hate me already anyway' and pointed me to the Cowboys... Seemed a bit short.
The next was some digital system, but it didn't tell me how the algorithm worked, making it seem randomish to me.
The final was this blog which seemed to employ a reasonable amount of logic, which, I am now applying here:

Geography:
Being British, I’m indifferent here, that said, I don’t like that New York has three teams. I certainly don’t like the Giants, it seems like such a stereotypical choice. But for now, let us also rule out the Jets and the Bills.

Team Name
Name is important to me. Let’s get rid of these – Browns, Texans, Colts, Buccaneers, Eagles, Lions, Redskins, Cardinals, Chiefs, 49ers, Raiders, Seahawks, Chargers

Team Colours
Of those left, they don’t bother me. I’ll probably look at this again later.

Team Logo and Mascot
Again, important, let’s get rid of these – Bears, Steelers, Tigers, Packers, Falcons, Panthers, Jaguars, Saints

Additional ones to rules out:
Titans – No real affiliation apart from Remember the Titans. Not valid. Not sure about Tennessee as a place either to be honest.
Ravens – watched the Superbowl last night, and I didn’t like them for some reason. They're also the reason the Pats didn't get to Superbowl XLVII
Dolphins – not sure about the colour, and the best thing I feel about the Dolphins is the Call Me Maybe Cheerleading video. I’m also not a big fan of all the sun in Miami.
Broncos – no real affiliation, Peyton Manning does have some allure mind.
Rams – I’ve got family who lived in St. Louis for some time, but still, don’t think so for the Rams.

The final 3
We have left, the Pats, The Vikings and the Cowboys.
Dallas Cowboys – I like that the Cowboys seem to split the NFL viewers. I don’t like that they’re southern, but I still do like them. I quite like their success rankings, and they seem slightly down on their luck right now. I quite like their kit, Also. Cheerleaders :D and, if I ever find myself in Texas, knowing something about the cowboys could be useful xD
The Vikings – I like the idea of the Vikings again, but, I’m not sure. The team doesn’t really seem one for me. HIMYM and Marshall’s love of the Vikings makes them appeal, but I’m still not so sure to be honest. I think these guys are out unfortunately. But they’ll still be on my radar next season.
New England Patriots – Superbowl XLVI was my first game. By the end of it, I had a hell of a lot of support for the Pats, and a lot of respect for Tom Brady. I like the idea of a team from New England, especially as I may have a chance to visit Boston next year, well I hope so. They’ve made it to the playoffs quite a lot as well which is quite a plus for me. Admittedly this might dry up in the next few years based on Brady's age...

This leaves me with the Cowboys and the Patriots. I think next season, because of them not often playing each other I'll support both, and hope they don't play each other. Then for 2014 season I'll know who to support between the two.

I also have a soft spot for the Bears and Packers for some reason I think. So will be keeping a particular eye on them.

Thoughts etc... ?

Why did you chose the NFL team you support?

Well it'll be like this, choose the patriots - you'll be called a bandwagoner.

Cowboys - You'll be hated and see '**** the cowboys' a lot :p Maybe called a bandwagoner but doubt it since you didn't follow their glory days but people may assume :p

Vikings - Meh, a team a few players away from maybe mounting a SB challenge with a bit of luck, perhaps if they take Alex Smith from the 9ers and running with Peterson they can do something.

Personally choose the 49ers due to my Dad supporting them and I can draw many parallels between them and Liverpool. Winning 'it' 5 times, glory years around similar times, past decade have really struggled (until now for 9ers), red and gold.

sounds like you already decided to me "Ravens – watched the Superbowl last night, and I didn’t like them for some reason. They're also the reason the Pats didn't get to Superbowl XLVII"

9ers is just such a silly name xD I can't cope with it xD

From the bandwagon, I can understand the perspective to be fair. But, yeah, Cowboys, now a days aren't as big as they were. I'm happy to tell people that. Pats I can understand the view as well though. But Superbowl 46 is really the big game for me.

Fair enough, to be fair, I plan on keeping an eye across the board. I think it will be all about which team manages to give me the most plays that make me go 'Holy ****' or something along those lines. For that reason I'm actually willing to keep an eye on everyone, but we shall see xD

I went to New York and saw the Jets beat the Steelers. Have been a Jets fan since. Difficult to choose a team when you're from the UK without seeing a team live I think.

Been a Raiders follower since the early days of NFL coverage on Ch4, not sure why, but they did win the Superbowl around the same time.

Went to see the Giants v Dolphins at Wembley, but I was left unimpressed by either TBH. I would suggest watching for a season or two and let your heart decide for you.

I'm a Bulls fan and I like to look out for the Timberwolves in the NBA so I go for the Bears in the NFL and keep an eye on the Vikings.

This is really what I think I'm aiming to in retrospect. There's just some games I'll be paying more attention to than others I think. As it's a relatively new game to me as well, it will probably be something that I suspect I'll grow to like a certain team's play style as well

Not sure how much disposable income you have KD, or anyone for that matter but I think it is still reasonable price that for £115 I think it is you can watch every match (bar those on sky + playoffs) live through the NFL Gamepass.

This means following your team is an absolute breeze, pretty much 90% of their games are likely to be on it.

Game too late on a monday night? No problem, watched the condensed version the next morning which is just 30 minutes of every single play not interuptions, you get proper highlights, analysis, red zone (basically a show showing all the great plays from each team during the sunday as they happen) and you can watch all of last years games.

Imo it is fantastic if you wanna follow the NFL properly, I know you can find streams but general pretty poor quality. Gamepass is HD, has Android+Iphone app and I did make an enquiry about Windows app and they said it is being considered and subsequently got a survey email asking would I want it two days later :D.

Jesus I sound like I work for NFL, but seriously look into it, one of the best £100 I spend a year.

Hm. Certainly might be worth looking into. I can certainly find £100 lying around I'm sure xD When you say 30 minutes of every play, do you mean like the full game with none of the interuptions, just all the plays, rather than 30 minutes? :p

Yea basically instead of any interruption.

So ball is snapped, when play ends you go straight to the next snap no break unless replay of a score obviously, so yeah full game no interruptions, I love it just for sitting eating some breakfast, beats the news from September-December :p

Oh yeah you can also run Quad view or game with in a game, so 4 games up on screen if you can hook up to a big one, or one game big and one small in top right corner, pretty good service :p

Wrote off the Vikings, don't like!

Choosing a team was simple for me, we have very good friends who live in Minnesota and went to a number of games when on holiday and the deal was sealed.

Ravens are my backup team as I have a friend who lived in Baltimore and quite often pick them in Madden haha

The first Superbowl I watched was the LA Raiders Vs Wahington Redskins back in the 80's. I took one look at the Raiders kit and thought wow, they look super cool. :)

I believe 1983 was the first Superbowl to be screened on Ch4 after the players disbanded their picket lines.

My memory is vague, but I'm sure I remember this first season on British tv, definetly remember watching the Raiders crush the Redskins though :D
