Gaming PC Spec - £750

These B Grade 7970, it says there are 10+ in stock...is this likely a batch of ones that don't overclock well or something? Bit dubious :S

Thinking about pulling the trigger. Main concern is the B Grade 7970 still...why so many of them???

Also, is a 750w PSU definitely required? Potentially planning on going Crossfire down the road, would 650w suffice?

Thanks for your help so far. Read more into the BitFenix Ghost and it looks good!

Build looks good :)

I'd personally get a XFX PSU over OCZ, also the ghost can fit a dual rad in the roof I think :) I'd get a air cooler instead personally. Plus get a DVD-RW over a DVD-ROM.

I did a review of the Ghost here:

The Ghost is a decent case, very high quality bar the door IMO:

My review of it can be found here:

Im happy with it :)

XFX > OCZ for any particular reason? Seems OCUK is out of stock on all their modular PSU's at the minute.

Any recommendations on the air cooler front?

Will have a butchers at your review, cheers mate.

XFX is made by Seasonic which are the best in the business ;) While OCZ are CWT which make a few of Corsair PSU's as well, mostly the CX and HX series I think.

I like the K2 personally, thers also the Phantecs PH-14. I'll check the space between my motherboard and the side panel when I get home to see if they fit.

Excellent Psu, not modular, but with cases offering better cable management these days, that is not a problem. Has Seasonic OEM like the XFX. I have the same Psu in my case and cables are not a problem.

Removed Nzxt case, as it wont support the Gpu. Might pay to ask in CS as to when the Carbide 300R will be back in stock. Not a big fan of the Ghost case.

Ive not heard very good things about the H2, that's what puts me off... They look good but appearntly don't live upto there appearence.

The rest is Okay though...

The word "spoiled" and "choice" come to mind here...so much to think about!! lol

@Idleman - Budget creeping up to near £800 there... :|

@Doomspeed - the H2 being the CPU cooler? I am happy to go air, but some of those coolers seem darn expensive for what they are.

This B Grade 7970 is definitely worth it over a new 7950? The Gigabyte Windforce 7950 is £239.99 vs the Gigabyte B Grade 7970 @ £259.99...

:| If only that damn XFX 750w Modular was in-stock man! I'd order right now ;( Would prefer modular really...any other brand recommendations?

>700w definitely a requirement you think? Or would 650w be sufficient for Crossfire down the road? 2x 7970

i.e. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-003-XF non-modular though

You should still be able to make a tidy build with a non-modular psu. I would go for the 850W version though if you plan on crossfiring 2x7970's.

Thoughts?

Personal preference, would change the cooler for one of these 2:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Blue (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £69.98
1 x BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £61.99
Total : £142.48 (includes shipping : £8.75).

The cooler you have is fine! I think it's an ugly looking thing, but it's not my build. I know you have a limited budget also.
