Don't really buy that argument. It isn't like we have to stop doing he other things to do this. It is a relatively easy change whereas the economy and youth employment is much more difficult to sort out.
The fact that it throws the cat amongst the pigeons in the Conservative party is just an added bonus

These things are being worked on. Wy does taht stop small things being sorted. Especially something which is very simple to vote on and then implement.

But that's pretty much he point, this bill actually allows the faiths to do what they want. Dont agree with Gay marriage? No problem, you don't have to do them. Do agree? Well now your faith will be able to preside over Gay marriages. Win, win!

You are right, we don't have to stop doing other things, however it is taking up a lot of Parliamentary time and promises to take up quite a lot more, time that is limited and could be put to better use in what is a difficult economic situation.

Why should a religion who doesn't believe in such a thing be forced to perform it?
They would never suggest a mosque perform a gay marriage why should a church?
For the record I have a good few gay friends (both gay and lesbian) so whilst I am fully in favour of them having the same rights as everyone else out there you cannot make a religion do things against their doctrine.

anyway as for gay marriage I cant see why any gay couple would want to get married in a religious institution that has discriminated against them for years.
Also im waiting for one of the MPs who voted against this to get caught with a rent boy
Obviously there has to be some kind of difference, otherwise we would be the same. Whether the difference is biological, phychological or social, something is different somewhere.
