Corsair H100i thermal compound i7 960 @4.2

Hello

I just get a Corsair H100i from ocuk and was wondering should I just fit the cooler as it comes with there thermal compound or should I apply some my own stuff I have a tube of arctic silver 5 some where in my draw.

I will be fitting this to a i7 960 @ 4.2 possibly even up to 4.3ghz.

The pre applied is pretty darn good stuff, from a very reputable maker (can't remember the name, but I will find out if pushed). Hold the AS5 should you ever have to reinstall it.

Thanks for help guys i fitted the H100i with surplyed compond temps on my i7 960 at 4.2ghz idle 38c full 64-66 with improvement from old h60 was at 82c full load.

It all so come with firmware 1.0.5 which not released yet no noises or fan rattle :) but did change corsair fans to bitfenix.

I wiped it off and used IC Diamond. I have no idea what the paste was at the time and figured the IC Diamond would be better.

I have IC 24c Haven't used it yet?. Isn't that paste thick? I hear you should run prime to help spread paste. What's your temps like with IC Diamond?

Yeah that's the stuff.
It's quite think but spreads ok when you tighten the block down on it.

With 2x SP120 quiet fans i get well under 80c (Prime 70-76c) on a 4.6GHz 3930K

Very nice, my 920 has been at 4.260GHz for nearly 4yrs 1.32Vcore[Bios], with a H50 at 1st, temps never went over 70'c gaming plus normal day use when we had hot spells.

Using custom loop CPU + GPU see sig but to do 4.3GHz 24/7 stable l need 1.35Vcore[Bios] just to get the extra 40HRTz quite a jump lol.

Don't go over 1.35Vcore[Bios] for 24/7 use above that they really kick out some heat.

Used to get the high 70's on my 920 at 4.2ghz, (1.312 vcore) under a prolimatech super mega. Stuck an alpenfohn k2 on it and dropped the max temp to 69c, and with a lot less noise compared to the viper fans on the mega. Current 3570k @4.5ghz, (1.300v) hits 75c max on one core. lowest at 69c. Not too bad for what are very hot running cpu's.
