Valemtines Day

Well it's normally me that forgets, or just gets a lame card where as she will put in thought and effort for me, so I have said we're not doing it this year.

But I am...

I have a plan. The night before, I'll make sure she falls asleep before me (always!) and then I've ordered in from the florist some rose petals to cover the place in (she can clean up after :p) and some roses as well. I've already ordered the card (no french ones in the shops, they're pap!) and she's always wanted a pair of Jimmy Choo's, so I've chosen, yep me, I have chosen some and they're on the way. This could be a bad idea with my tastes but hey.
I'm going to do her a meal that night as well, which I'm trying to decide what to do. Might do a big sharing cote de boeuf, as that way it's piece of cake to cook and not much time in the kitchen, and I get steak. Maybe some scallops to start, she loves them.
Also going to make her some chocolates. It's a piece of cake to make truffles, but a much nicer touch that shop bought. I can make her favourite collection, which will be nice. A couple of nice bottles of wine and maybe some sexy underwear and an evening of porn on the TV should seal that night off as the best day she's had, and I can take a massive bow.

well this is my first valentines day being alone for 4 years......

but i personally never cared for it, i don't need a big company telling me i need to love my woman on a specific day of the year, and the girl i was with new i couldn't stand it, but i still went and brought a cheap card from card factory just to earn some brownie points! :)

i would much rather sit inside and cuddle up with a crap film of her choice and cook up a nice meal or grab a takeaway than go out and spend stupid money on fancy cards and rubbish that just ends up in the draw somewhere!

*Holds hand up*

Alone on Valentines for the first time in so long.
REALLY looking forward to it.

Gonna spend what I usually would on overpriced meals, wine, flowers, chocolates, cards, confetti, jewellery, on something for me.

I am, unfortunately, always sucked into the Clinton 'Show Her You Care. No, Seriously. SHOW HER. WITH MONEY' (perhaps my girlfriends are shallow and materialistic). I certainly disagree with needing an excuse to show someone you love them, but girls do seem to swoon especially over Valentines.

But, no, it's a breath of fresh air to not feel that obligation. I'll be at the pub.

It's a load of rubbish designed to flog you cards flowers and teddy bears.

It's also rubbish if you try to go out around Valentine's day because all the bars and restaurants are rammed and you never get good service because of it.

Girlfriend and I went out a few years back to an expensive restaurant and they didn't have the dessert we wanted because they had ran out basically.

In terms of buying flowers etc. you'd be better off doing it at another time of year because it would be unexpected and spontaneous, not on Valentine's day because you feel you have to.

To quote my fiancé, "you buy me flowers every Friday, I far prefer that than some token effort on one over commercialised day of the year"

Suits me. :)

What are your thoughts on valentines day?
I personally think its overrated,I don't need a day in the calender. You should be able to spontaneously buy treats and do things together the whole year through. :)

Absolutely. Just rife comercialism. Public cash cows that's us.

Oi mrs seabiscuit! Where the hell was my invite for the wedding?! (used to work at OcUK, name's James... used to talk to you on Steam!) was looking forward to that event, but I completely missed it, even after giving you my address! Haha

Either way! I don't mind Valentines at all... I enjoy having somebody to share the day with anyway... happy days!
