Findus admits frozen lasagne was made with 99%horsemeat

Findus said:
At Findus UK we are committed to our customers and the quality of our products. Following a thorough investigation, Findus UK can confirm that testing of its beef lasagne, produced by a 3rd party supplier and not by Findus, has revealed some product containing horse meat. [...] Fully compliant beef lasagne will be in stores again soon.

:D

Quality! It's been rebellious beef that's been causing the problem by the sounds of it.

Isn't outsourcing great? Not only do you save loads of money by getting someone else to do your work for you, but you can also blame them when things go **** up.

That was my thought too, that and further developments as investigative journalists start to take a bite..

The thing is, during times of severe poverty, people use to make stews and make up leftovers (bubble and squeak was an outcome of it  ) and so on. Processed food was less prevalent and generally enjoyed by people who could afford it. People are just lazy and would rather buy ready made meals - which unfortunately now are so competitively priced. However, whilst it may cost more initially to buy all the individual ingredients, once you're used to having them, you can make vats of foods on a shoe string if you put a little effort.

Ah. Now I understand why the waiter at the pub I had lasagna at last night asked me whether I wanted horse or beef. Had not seen the latest story.

im guessing big chains like wetherspoons will fall foul of this horsemeat scandal, as their microwaved rubbish is probably made by similar suppliers. This is just the tip of the iceberg and just proves you cant trust the big food manufacturing giants.

The French banned our beef on the basis that there was a tiny chance it my contain BSE, and an even smaller chance said BSE might actually do something maybe in 30 years.

At what point do we tell the cheese eating, onion wafters to stick their Beef/Horse/Cat/Dog or whatever else they fancy sending us up their ass....

When we stop buying it?
