*** Crossfit "Grace". It has stars, it's official!! ***

Lol no, I had no doubt it would be hard for most here. 60kg clean and push press is heavy for inexperienced oly lifters.

Pffft. KD: this is going to be very hard indeed.

I don't think anybody that can clean and press is under any illusion about it. The entire reason Olympic lifts are practised in set of 3 at most, generally speaking, is because they require technique to work properly and safely.

Take the last two elements away and you're into a very strange and difficult place...

I can probably clean and jerk 60kg for 7/9 without too many problems, but after that it will turn into an SLDL with some strange compromising lift to shoulders, etc. as I fatigue badly.

The biggest strain will be lowering the weight back down from overhead, which I'm not looking forward to...

I remember when we did the deadlift challenge BW in 60s and 1.5xBW in 60s form went out of the window it was about speed.

Since we're allowed to push press, the 60kg should be ok.

It's going to be humbling, but I reckon it'll be ok nonetheless.

The cleans wouldn't be a problem for me, the press would be, not so much the weight but the reps!

I remember DarkShadow just turning into a blur on his BW 60's deadlift!

*Might* give this a go tomorrow, have to see how the jetlag fairs though as I flew in from Seattle this morning.

It looks absolutely horrible. ~5 minutes would be a nice time :p

O/T kind of.

But C&J are they safe enough to self teach? They terrify me for some reason, but I would love to start them.

I did ask a PTI the other day, but since he said go ahead and I'll check your form with little weights on (not the right height) and that he just said yeah looking good keep at it, it didn't fill me with much confidence.

Will try to video myself and get one up.

Sorry, thread hijack.......

From what I've seen aspiring Oly lifters do a LOT of work practicing the components of the lift individually and then bringing it together (e.g. watch any California Strength vid). You could probably make progress on your own, but it's human nature to be slightly impatient and a coach would probably drill you to death till your form/motor pattern is the same as the weight goes up, where on your own you might want to keep throwing more weight on the bar before you've nailed the motion.

I would luuuurve to learn to snatch and c&j, but it'd preferably be at an Oly gym with bumper plates and proper coaching. I can barely trust myself to learn to squat and deadlift properly, the Oly lifts are way more technical!

what i dont like about oly lifts is, generally, you are exceeding your lifting capacity, and relying on structural integrity of joints and bones to support the weight after each transition. Meaning any slight mistake or variation and you collapse like a house of cards. Not fun. However this isnt the case here for me fortunately lol

Yeah KD I don't think anyone is really thinking this will be easy! Lol.
If I can get out to the unit tomorrow I'll give this a test :)

Stick it on YouTube :)
I'm sure someone with an editor can beep the baddy out at the end :p

2:57 is a bloody awesome time IMO!
