Right I seemed to have got a damaged iPhone out of the box. It has some slight scapes/chips on the top. I was prepared to live with it until I took the plastic screen protector off and there is a very small dust like peck on the screen..

The phone is less than a week old

Where do I stand?

02 cpwh contract

iPhone 5? If so it's quite a common problem or at least was when they were released so you should have no problem getting a replacement.

Not sure if am being to picky now :/

The chips are so very small lol maybe try my luck anyhows.

O2 or apple?

Go to where you got it from and demand an immediate replacement.

Apple will likely give you a refurbished one which is fine, but not when it's new.

I had the same problem. I bought mine on an LTE contract with EE. I even checked the phone in the store, but I missed the two chips on the polished edges, there was also a pretty long scratch on the screen. I was gutted, I took it back to an apple store only to be fobbed off. They classed it as "cosmetic damage" and suggested that I go back to EE and return the handset there as it was within 7 days purchase.

I simply waited and took it back to apple after I had some issues a few days later with static in the sound when playing music/video. I am very disappointed with the build quality on the iPhone 5.

Ok am very surprised.

I rang them up this evening told them the problem. Told me just to nip to one of their stores and they sort me out.

I was expecting a little resistance but he took one look at it and said np.

He thought I had a 16gb though and took one out of the box to notice it also had a few marks on it. Not as bad as mine. Mine was more chipped than scraped.

In the end they had no 32gb in stock so. So had to get one ordered in. Getting it delivered to the shop so I can give it a good going over.

Impressed with the service but think it has a lot to do with the CPWH 14 day returns policy.

Drat, I was thinking of getting a white one after I heard the black ones were prone to scratching.

The backs on the white phones all seemed fine. my chips where round the edge near the power button.

I would have took the one he opened as it was only a slight mark round the silver trim but it was a 16gb

what the hellllllllll

Apples qc is gone to hell.

Picked up the new iphone in the shop give it a quick going over dint notice it has a figure size blemish on the side.....

This is clearly not a scrape but has been done in the manufacturing

You're just unlucky. It's quite uncommon to have issues with the white model of the iPhone 5 at least, and most of the black ones are fine now too.
