Straight to the point with this one...

Is there any legal standing whereby I "have to" answer some stupid survey from this woman who has been incessantly door knocking our house.
Mostly it's been where I have been at work and mother has answered the door..
Apparently she wants to speak to the youngest member of the house..
Today I am home but luckily I was in bed when I heard the knock..
By the time I had hopped around the bedroom trying to get into my skidders, she had already walked round the back, knocked there and then again back round the front!
This is, I think, the fourth time she's been back according to mother!
Can I just open the door and tell her to shove her survey up her clunge or do I have some legal obligation to answe it?

Tell her you are withdrawing her implied right of access and she is no longer allowed on your property.

Do this whilst filming her with a mobile phone.

Gets rid of annoying cold callers quite well.

As far as I'm aware, the only 'survey' you are legally forced to complete is the Census. Failure to complete that carries a fair sized fine IIRC.

Other than that, as above, tell 'em to go away.

Or you could just try speaking to her and stating politely that you do not wish to participate? If this has already been done (not implied in your first post), then perhaps something more resistant is indeed required but no need to be so objectionable until you actually speak to her.

Mother has already stated that I'm not interested, when she said she'd call back another time.
When she appeared again I was once again at work, when she suggested an evening appointment mother said I wouldn't be in then either.
After that, mother stopped answering the door.
This morning is my first encounter with " a woman walking past one of my windows" as I tried to get dressed.
By which time I had put two and two together and assumed this is the same persistent cow who doesn't seem to want to take no for an answer.
So I went back to bed :D

It'll take 10 minutes tops. You've probably spent more time whinging about how somebody dares come round to ask you questions and asking the internet whether you can be very rude to her next time she visits than you would have spent just doing it. And with it being the ONS it will at least serve a useful purpose rather than being commercial market research.

So at no point has she been told NOT to come back...

We are not interested, kthbye.
Is polite enough of a NO as far as I am concerned.
It falls on deaf ears though, as after being told this, she said "I'll call another time"

She isn't there to speak to your mother, she is there to speak to you. She hasn't yet done this. Once she speaks to you and you rudely tell to her **** off as you seem so desperate to do, she'll leave you alone. Unless you are under 18 then your mother doesn't speak for you.

If someone went around into my back garden to knock on my back door, I would be having words with her, but they wouldn't be polite, especially if she's already been 4 times.

Find out what 'Sorry, not interested' is in some obscure language, keep saying you don't understand in terribly broken English, ask her to phone the translation service, make her jump through as many hoops as possible and then say the 'Sorry, not interested' phrase to the translator, video it on your phone and YouTube it for bonus points.

Then don't forget to whinge on the internet about how much money the government wastes on things like jumping through hoops. Also, for added irony, complain even more bitterly about how they never take into account what you want. Even though you refused the opportunity to participate in a survey which might yield data that influences future policy.

This thread has consumed about ten seconds of my life. All of which have been consumed whilst I lay in bed in the nude. :)

Oh really, so on my only morning off where I don't have to get up you "worry for me" because I wanted to lounge around in bed!
Mother isn't my spokesperson, she isn't here, but she was during the week when I was at work. Nothing more, nothing less.
It has nothing to do with being socially awkward and not wanting to speak to the woman. What I am not going to do though is answer the bloody back door to a stranger in my underwear.
By the time I'd fumbled around for something to put on she had gone. Simples.
Ok 20 seconds then :p

Charge her a consultation fee to answer questions, cash only, or answer her question with a question, that's often enough for them to leave you.
