Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone could help me out, I'm thinking about building a desktop from the ground upwards. Not to sure what kind of components I should buy... Don't want to get unnecessary gear.

Aiming for a gaming/high performance computer which can run good top games, adobe suite smoothly and can play and display smooth beautiful graphics lol.

Not to sure about a price range probably around £650-£700.... Still need to invest in buying a decent monitor.

Got my interest in an i5 3570k ivy at the moment, but if there are any better CPU's for my budget tell me :D

Hoping to get a SDD and HDD as well because i want to run an OS on a SDD so it boots faster and some top applications too.

This is my first time ever building one too by the way.

Thanks if you can give me some help.

Looking good so far ! Yeah probably aim for a 1TB to reduce the cost. The problem I'm having i dont know what type of cooler and power supply I should buy as well.

Thanks by the way :)

1tb hdd and high end vga and bigger psu added, way over budget :( and still no OC fan and heatsink in price

if you could stretch to an extra £100 to make max spend £800 then could have last build spec plus a good cooler so could overclock your cpu as well and keep it cool as stock isn't meant for it and wouldn't keep it cool either unless you like a helicopter noise fan spinning in you box, with the extra money as well, could open up other options for different m/b's as well for different reasons etc

that spec for £680 does look tempting i must say ! So if I brought that kind of spec I wouldn't need a cooler or some type? As you can tell im not that clever in choosing specs lol.

The helicopter noise sounds like an interesting feature?! but I would pass on that =P Hoping to have hardly no noise ;)

lukie spec is a good one as well, i also like corsair but most here say pick XFX so i do now, case is better as well in some ways, but i'll stick with Antec, not as good as the 300 as that's huge but serves many of my builds very well, most say poor cable management and older design, but i still love them.

cases are like keyboards and mice, everyone has there own views on them and its down to personnel choice tbh

i also like adata sdd a lot, having 2 of the 256gb pro ones myself, when everyone else spec's samsung ones, but i like price v power, not power v price as i'm always on a budget

the ones i bought adata 256gb pro are no longer listed here, and when i got them they was on offer, was cheaper than some 120gb ones are now, and so fast, yes not as fast as the samsung pro ones but for the price it's near enough, warranty good so will see how long they last and send them back if they don't, plextors have always made the best dvd drives and would love to see them do well in the sdd market, speeds looks nice

better to also not list other website here or you will be warned or get your posted edited for you bradc

mix and match all you like, just dont post where there from :)

the more ram the better tbh, it's cheap enough 16gb in nice, i'm thinking of going to 32gb as i use ram drives for gaming :) and as the games are getting bigger there not fitting in my 8gb images no more :(
