artists how do you sell your pictures?

(where better to ask about selling art than on a computer related forum)

a friend who is (i think) a good artist is skint he has a web site but only sells the odd picture to friends and friends of friends...

how should he go about selling pictures? I suggested he enter into artweek each year but other than that I don't know...

the guy know nothing about selling art and has some degenerative disease and is not able to walk so he cannot really go out and about...
 
Link his site, please! Has he tried phoning local art shops or craft shops? They often have originals for sale, of course, they take a percentage. I've even seen some for sale in libraries. Galleries too are fairly common where I live. He could also sell some via ebaY, perhaps.
 
My friend currently has some of his photography in the 'Arts Cafe' in Leeds.

Tried that? Getting them more on display to the public.

He also had a stall at an arts fayre in the middle of the city.
