Blizzard paralyses north-east US and Atlantic Canada

High winds and blizzard conditions have emptied the centre of Boston and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has banned all non-essential traffic.

Millions of people across New England have been warned to stay indoors. The region's airports are closed.

Many areas are under two feet (60cm) of snow and more snowfalls are expected.

- You don't see England/UK getting these do you, I'd love a snowstorm in a good way but the bad thing is when the snow melts, it would cause a lot of flooding.

It's scary though :(
1 foot of snow, is a lot.. imagine that in the UK.

How about a yard stick? That is the decking at the back of the house.

Just missed me as I'm a bit too far north. Only got about 15cm. Should have another 20 coming next week.

That and the warm front coming up from Texas must have run out of steam and let the stronger cold front from the Arctic keep it down in the US.
