The inevitable RWD+snow = :( thread. What a great way to start a night shift.

The car is still driveable but the tracking is off. The front left bumper and wing have some damage.

Does anyone know a good bodyshop or accident repair place in Birmingham?

Thanks

Some pictures for your interest. As you can imagine I was furious and didn't have the time to recount everything last night. A 13 hour shift later and things are looking better than I thought in the light. I got the tracking sorted this morning on my way home. I think I'll get away with a new wing and a bumper respray (lots of stone chips anyway!).

I was driving past Birmingham City FC on my way to work. The roads weren't gritted and as I drove the conditions were worsening. I was going up the hill at 25, the back tried to overtake the front and I hit and mounted the curb and then glanced a wall. My rally skillz weren't up to the job unfortunately to save it. I crossed the central road markings and then managed to get back on a straight course once the wall had scrubbed enough speed off.

I don't think anyone will insure me if I make a claim, and heading to a bodyshop and forking out will probably save cash on insurance premiums in the long run.

*NASTY CRASH PICS*

I knew I should have swapped my shift :p

Not in Brum but in Cannock with full geo facilities too.

Had the door on my GT3 and the door and rear wing done on my wifes MX5 and they are superb. Not the cheapest, but you won't find better and Porsche, Merceds, Audi and Bentley approved I believe.

I wasn't impressed with Shoarde.

They said they couldn't repair my Monaros front number as it wasn't weldable plastic.
I then took it to Stratstone who repaired it by binding the two halfs of the bumper together with a sheet of metal in the same shape of the bumper.

Looks almost like that bumper'd get away with a paint as long as the mountings are alright. Hopefully the light is still in one piece as that'll be pricey but looks like you came off fairly lucky :) ... stupid snow!

Dealer in house bodyshops are far far far far far far far far superior to your private ones.

They have the skills, the understanding, the experience and relibility.

If you don't like something ***** to them and they fix it. It's not costing them any extra money or time, they have plenty of people working on various cars, there is no serious pressure unlike with private people.

You get a proper warranty on the work aswell.

Best example is my dads Honda accord, was rear ended, boot lid pushed up and needed a new bumber.

Private quotes started at £400 with replacing the bumper, replace the boot lid, put it on a jog to align it, all this crap.

BMW bodyshup, hammered out the bottom of the boot, fixed up my used bumper from ebay, hammered out the boodlid and it looks perfect. All for £450 all in.......

The BMW bodyshop has done all of my insurance repairs which equates to something like 7-8 repairs, all have been perfect, any time there has been an issue it's fixed.

I have no intention of using a private bodyshop again when the BMW one is either the same price or ever ever so slightly dearer.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm rapidly getting over the whole incident - helped by sorting the tracking today so it drives straight. In hindsight it was a situation that could easily have resulted in much more than a quarter of a vehicle being damaged. I'll get some quotes and see if the front bumper is salvageable. I think it will be as it's sitting in the correct orientation and the panel gaps on the opposite side are equal.

If it turns out to be a fortune perhaps I'll put it on some drift rimz and keep the rat look :D

All fixed. £900 including all the wheels refurbished. I think they've done a decent job matching the colour too.

They will replace, they wont bodge I'm afraid and that sounds like a bodge even if it looks fine. Just their approach, not the place to go if you want it done for less cost to be fair.
