Help with Asus Xonar DG and Headphones

I recently installed an Asus Xonar DG soundcard and it works fine with my speakers.

However the two jacks on the front of the pc where I plug in my mic headset don't seem to work now (the LEDs are on for them both though).

I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS after installing the card but I assume there is something else I need to do to get these jacks to work with the Xonar?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I didn't connect anything to the Xonar inside the case. It's been about 10yrs since I did anything like this myself, I was bit lost with all the cabling inside.

So I've found the front panel audio connector and plugged it into the xonar, and I can hear sound on the headphones when selecting FP in the audio center which is great thanks.

The mic still doesn't work though. Edit: actually the LED on the mike jack is no longer on at all now which is my bad I guess because I pulled out the LED connectors looking for the audio cable (score 1 for ignorance) and probably plugged them back in the wrong sockets.

Also do I need to manually switch between FP and speakers in the audio center to change between the two or is there some configuration that is simply "speakers all the time except when headphone is plugged in"? The speakers are plugged into the back.

Not the best of quality but I just used a cheapo stereo splitter and plugged both speakers and headphones in at the back, just turn the speakers off when I wanna use the headphones.

The DG/DGX has auto sensing for the front audio, same as onboard does. It's not reliable though, unlike onboard audio, which works every time. Some people have no issues with the front audio sensing. When I was using a DG, sometimes it would work great, other times it didn't work at all.

As for the microphone not working. Is this in the front audio socket or the main socket on the card itself?
