Location
somewhere out there!
We were thinking of going away for a few days.
A long time ago we were told of a place in the lake district (we think!) with a really good traditional pub with a selection of ales.
Can anyone think of what where we mean?
Alternatively reccommend us a place in either the peak district or the lake district with some traditional pubs nice sceanery and a decent b&b sorry its vague.

My friend's parents have a house in Grasmere, Lakes. Been to stay there a few times when they are away.

Few nice pubs/restaurants there. Jumble Rooms is a nice restaurant that was in a top 50list somewhere for UK.

One of the pubs there has a nice selection of ales. They even do an ale slider (3 x 1/3 of a pint) so you can test a few for the same price of a pint.

The Langdale Valley is nice - good pub there with accomodation and a camp site too if that is your thing. Good central location too so not far to drive to most places you would want to go.

If u want to get away from the Main tourist traps head to nether wasdale and stay at the screes b&b - amazing food, there own brewery and very good scenery :)

some places keswick and grassmere or near ullswater bridge

some places can be reasonable but for posh standards you might choke :D

There's a lovely B&B in Ullswater called The Brackenrigg Inn. Couple of Pubs near by and a short drive to Windemere if you want a little more touristy stuff.

Lovely walk to a great waterfall nearby call Aera Force.

I was actually in Langdale at the weekend for a wedding, very nice place.
The pub (seemed to be the only one apart from the one at the hotel) was called Wainwrights' Inn. They had quite a wide selection of ales.

Sorry, just come back from my annual week in the Lakes just outside Ambleside so I know it well. I don't know B&B's that well but theres a load on the main road by the Jade Chinese/Cinema (don't know the road) and theres a good few pubs nearby.
