Do think the nintendo Wii U is going to fail ??

What is with all the doomsayers? The Wii U has been out for a tiny amount of time and we haven't seen any of the big hitters yet, save for a Mario game which was probably rushed out anyway. As the lifespan goes on we'll see plenty of new games, the Lego City game looks fantastic, plus Bayonetta 2 and a bunch of other first party Nintendo stuff like Zelda, Mario Kart etc.

I do think it's a shame they released the console without many big first party games to go along with it.

I have no interest in the console, and none of my gamer friends are real mates have any, all the talk between us is the next PS or Xbox console.

Nintendo imo have lost the magic they once had, and like Sega will end up making games for other consoles.

LOL you realise Nintendo has never had great 3rd party support?

You realise they make the games that sell consoles?

You think anyone buys a Nintendo console to play EA yearly updates?

Do you run an anti-Nintendo blog? You seem to think your getting some thrill out of kicking the wii for things most who buy the console don't care about.

Funny cause both the DS and 3DS have good 3rd party support and whilst the Wii's 3rd party support wasn't amazing, it was still decent. Wii U other than the launch games hasn't had any other 3rd party games announced so far has it?

I really wanted to buy one the new nintendo Wii U consoles but after thinking about it a bit more I can't seen to think of a reason to buy one...
Plus some the exact same games seen to cost much more for the Will U then for the 360/PS3

Example game price from amazon

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed: Limited Edition
PS3 £17.99
360 £17.99
Wii U £29.57

What do you guys think ??

Just like with the other games, give it a few weeks and the price will drop. The Wii U version can be had for less than £20 as of this morning.

I guess failing is a bit of a strong word, but I think they should do a sega and focus on games, purely for the selfish reason that I'm not going to buy a nintendo console.

Which is a shame since the Dreamcast had an amazing first party line up, it wasn't the only reason Sega went under, but the Dreamcast did show that having only first party support will kill you in the end.

If they didnt release so much non sense hardware during the 16bit days and rushed out the Saturn then Sega would have been fine when the Dreamcast was released.

Nintendo will be fine like they have for decades. People expect too much from Nintendo because they dont turn out yearly games or have so many multi platform titles.

I don't really think it will fail. Nintendo consoles will always have a place if they just release the likes of Mario and Zelda. No one cares about playing Madden and Tiger Woods on a WiiU.

I do think its a console that wouldn't be great to have without something else to play such as a PC or 360/PS3. Depends on how often you want to be playing games though..

I think people expect too much, take pretty much any new hardware release in the last few years and it has always been a slow start:

Nintendo Wii - Everyone wrote it off and became a smash hit
Nintendo 3DS - Very slow start but recovered to be come successful
PS Vita - Very poor start, still struggling but starting to pickup

If you think back to when PS3 and Xbox 360 came out the launch line-ups were fairly poor and the releases for first 6 months were pretty crap.

I've been listening to the latest Gamescoop on IGN where they talked about the Wii U situation and all agreed pretty much that Nintendo will do what they always do and survive on their own software. With games such as Mario, Mario Kart, Smash etc all arriving at E3 that's a strong showing.

You'll more than likely see at least one of Mario Kart/Mario come out this fall and console sales will be boosted. Greg Miller said it himself that as soon as a Mario Kart is released he'll be on board.

That's the way Nintendo gets a lot of their sales is through these first party titles, what will be interesting to see is how the arrange the software lineup over the coming years as from this fall they WILL require a steady stream of first party titles which of course will be coming.

It's way too early to tell the fate of the console, this is pretty much the staple for most new consoles where the software isn't really forthcoming into around a year of release.

What you'll no doubt see on the new PS/Xbox is 'enhanced' versions of the new COD etc (which will of course be out on 360/PS3) as the thing is released. It will essentially be ports of franchises close to or on release from what's coming out on annually on the current gen systems. Simply it's the way it happens.

Nintendo NEED to have a strong E3 this year to provide confidence on what's upcoming for the console and from what's coming out from Nintendo so far that's what their aiming for. They can simply concentrate on their games this year and I for one am interested in how this will play out.
