Looks like Republic is the next High Street casualty...

Republic was always one of those shops I'd walk straight into round in a circle very quickly, wondering how any of this crap sells. It was mostly Bench stuff, or am I thinking of another store.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I wonder how they manage to sell any of those James May style shirt etc.

I know this affects people lives by losing their jobs which I obviously understand is not good, but I am happy the shops that are going are the crap ones. Cutting the wheat from the chaff.

More shops should follow Hollister's lead - they must save so much money by having their lights off. Very economical!

That's ok, the male clientèle can still purchase their skinny jeans and XXS tshirts from any girls shop that is still open.

Just like how Abercrombie and Fitch dont give their staff expensive uniforms to wear. Must save a fortune.

Edit - Also Primark, they don't use expensive display stands to show off their clothes, they just dump them on the floor for people to rummage through.

I must admit, i did used to like some of there stuff and bought a few things. They have gone seriously down hill now though. Much like river island. It is all just hipster rubbish or t shirts emblazoned with naked women.

Seriously though im a bit shocked that a well known trendy clothes shop is in trouble. They have an online store, and I would have thought that clothes shops in general would have been more suited to the highstreet as people will naturally want to browse clothes in person, and try things on before they buy them. When people buy clothes they generally want them for something, e.g im going out at the weekend ill buy some new clothes to look all sexy, its more of an "I need this now" market than the likes of media etc.

Hollister make my sister purchase her uniform, swear it costs like £60 each time and has to be changed every few months. She doesnt even do that many hours for them

Adds to the revenue. :\

Then again girls mainly spend their pay on clothes and make up stuff anyway :p

Well there you go, saving money on electric and forcing their staff to pay them for the privilege of working there. Its a profitable business model.

Last time I was in Republic aswel the prices were a bit OTT, and the fashion not the best.

I cant really conform to the way fashion is most times, most of it looks gay.

Think the last time that I was walking around a shop just before xmas it was all these weird shirts with Brown leather patches on the shoulders and going down the arm.

No offence to people that like it, but just NO!
