600D owners is this normal

Just got a 600D today and I am a little concerned on the build quality. Seems to be some flex on the shutter side of the camera, cat really explain have a look at video to see what I mean. Am I being to fussy or is this a bad one? What concerns me is if dust or something gets in the gap. I can also see some metal chassis in the gap behind the rubber part (see pic)

Its a plastic body, so its not going to be as solid as rigid as the metal alloy ones. The last plastic body I had was a 350D, and that certainly creaked and such.

Its hard to see from the video quality, but I'd also say it doesn't look like much of a gap. Even if dust did get in there, its not going to be near the mirror/focusing screen/sensor.

Yeah, I appreciate what you are saying :) I don't mind a creak or two; as it is plastic. The gap and the movement, I wasn't expecting though. I have a canon compact that cost me £60, and it has better build quality.

I think my issue is if that is how they all are then ok ill accept it. But if it is a dodgy one I would want to change it.

That's what I would expect; and I think the 600D should be the same. I sent the video to the online store I got it from, and asked their opinion on it. They said that it was faulty, and immediately arranged a replacment to be sent out for delivery today: just hoping that that will be rock solid.
 
Got my replacement at the weekend, and it is much better than the first one. Still a little gap, but the movement is much less. I guess,they are all like this to be honest, and you get what you pay for.
 
Not sure what you mean by you get what you pay for? It's not a pro camera but it's not exactly cheap lol :/ My 650d certainly doesn't have loose bits :|

So was I to be honest, but then I'm known to be really fussy or so I'm told :D
I think the shop was also really amazed by how much movement and couldn't get another one out quick enough :)

I agree it isn't cheap. I was expecting a much better build quality, at that price point. I think what I was thinking was, maybe I need to spend twice as much, to get what I was expecting. I guess as price goes up so does build quality.

My own 600D does not have that issue seen in your video.
