Do think the nintendo Wii U is going to fail ??

Going back to to Tiger Woods, it is a shame that its not going to be on wii u, didnt we see a golf demo when Wii U was announced where the pad was on the floor showing what your lying in and using a wii mote as your club. When someone brings out something like that it will no doubt be the best golf game to date, obviously it wont be EA but then thats no bad thing as TW's franchise has been pretty poor in recent years.

If a company was to fail in this gen it wouldnt be nintendo.
Sony are not in a great position financially...
Far more likely to be Nintendo than Sony as ultimately a good console happens due to the quality and quantity of games, if Nintendo still cant garner decent third party support, then they have to rely on first party. There will be a time where either they cant get enough great titles out there or the standard slips.

Compared to that Sonys requirement is childs play and ultimately unlike Nintendo not all their eggs are in the console market. Nintendos situation is far more like Segas than either MS/Sonys will ever be.

I personally dont think any of them will have any issues this time round, though Nintendo needs to realise that uniform third party support just makes life easier for the devs and console buyers, or have they just come to the point where they are just happy to be the second console in the house?

Yep I think Nintendo are quite happy to have sown up the handheld market and take what they can in the home console, that's if you ignore the Wii sales....

Its a strange one as all the 360vPS3 wars were based on who has the best exclusives, now those same people seem to think the Wii U can't rely on their triple A exclusives....strange indeed.

Some sort of new Pokemon Rumble incarnation announced for release in Japan in March for Wii U...will no doubt boost the numbers there :p

I would be worried if the 3DS was still struggling like it did in the early days but the sales for that are amazing worldwide and is at the moment outpacing the DS which was a fantastic hit. The handheld market is essentially sewn up for Nintendo, they make a massive amount of money there, if/when that market begins to deteriorate then they may worry more.

Pokemon in October should make for some huge numbers for Nintendo.

(Yes not Wii U related but more related to their business).

At the end of the day they know what they're doing, and they know what they're trying to achieve.

They've cottoned on to the fact that the 3rd party support is unlikely to ever pick up, and as such they're currently expanding their development teams and completing many joint projects with other developers.

Platinum games is the best example, and it looks like they will be producing two stellar titles alone this year.

If they keep this up, they'll be fine, and ultimately the lack of 3rd party support wont be a big issue.

Indeed. Sony's gaming division hasn't been decently profitable for a long time. IIRC they keep it going for brand recognition to benefit their other divisions.

$53m for the game division in Q3 2012 (3 months to Dec 2012), compared to $500m~ for Microsoft Entertainment and Devices division for same period. 20% fall in profit for Sony is attributed to falling sales of PSP/PS3, interesting the financial report says that it was offset by sales of the Vita.

Not really, when you talk about 360vs PS3 the given is the fact they have a comparable third party catalogue, so you end up ignoring that and comparing exclusives to differentiate them.

The same cant be said for the current Nintendo consoles, I love their exclusives but if they dont have the same comparable third party catalogue then its quite easy to see it might be a no sell for lots of people...

LOL correct, but so true :(.

For me, I just have enough time/money/energy for a single console as I just dont play that much and its the features and catalogue need to be wide enough to cover anything Id like to do with it, unfortunately it means the Wii U just isnt on my radar...

Let's spin the argument could it be that EA Sport titles won't go to WiiU as it doesn't support Online Passes, then apply that logic to the next Playstation/Xbox. Could the console that blocks used game sales exclusively have the EA sports games or better versions compared to those that can be resold?
