Can I beat 2xGTX480 for £250?

Hey guys,

Looking to move from my 2xGTX480's in order to have less power consumption, given I will soon be in my own home I don't want huge electric bills :P

I have 2 480's to sell along with a refurb that hasn't been used with 1 year warranty, if I sell and some other things I should end up with ~£250 hopefully, is there anyway I can get the power of 2xGTX480's for this much money? (Not expecting a yes :P)
 
480 SLI *just* comes out on top against a 680. I would advise you get a 7950 and overclock it, that will hit the spot you're after !
 
So it is possible then, am I right in saying 7950s can get unlocked to 7970s? Or am I thinking of something else?

I guess that'd be my best bet for now, amd cards re better for triple screens too I believe aren't they?

At least then I wont have to shut Google Chrome + others every time I swap between activate all screens and 3D performance (Not got my triple screens set up for surround :()

I was planning to watercool it, having a 360 rad and a 240 rad going from GTX480 SLI to that single card should drop the temps too!

Now I just need to sell these 3 480's I have :P

I guess a cheapish card will do, since I want to watercool it for OC, don't need any fancy coolers on it
 
Yeah a 7950 would be the best option for £250, if you gave it a decent overclock you could get fairly close to 480 SLI, but of course with less heat, noise, power consumption and likely better minimum framerates, less microstutter and better performance in games that don't scale well for SLI.
 
With them 2 rads on it youll be able to add plenty more power to it and still run with ya fans almost silent.
