How long do you think the Ultima 9990i Mammoth would last?

Depends on your resolution needed and your preference on graphics options. Realistically a good build spec PC should last a couple of years, at the most a graphics upgrade once a year to max games.

Assuming you aren't using silly resolutions that spec is overkill and you could easily get acceptable performance for something a quarter the price.

It would be on a triple monitor 1080p setup.

Assuming you've got the funds then I'd say you'll get at least 4 years out of the CPU (Assuming you are just gaming) perhaps even more than that.

Maybe a graphics upgrade in two years to keep everything maxed out.

For the price difference would it be worth getting 2x 690's 4gig over the 4x 680's?

I'm sure I've read about the 690's not using all 4gig of VRAM.

Yes I'd say so.

Though Nvidia's new offering will be out within a month, might be worth sticking it out till then if you are serious about dropping 5K into a PC.
