What on earth will our foreveralone Icelandic brethren do on those long, dark nights if this goes through? I presume they won't be banning top shelf mags as well?

What possible consequences could this have... An increase in sexual assault cases perhaps? More importantly, is it time to invest my savings in an Icelandic love doll company? :D

The big trouble with censorship is ********* and ********, not to mention the ******* from the *********, it's ********* *********.

You think that is bad, some computer component shops have started banning Oscar Pistorius threads ;)

No that probably has something to do with about half the first page being taken up by crappy jokes that mods deem unacceptable.

And no, that is not "just the British way of dealing with things".

This is an internet forum, not an episode of Question Time.

What's the point of Speaker's Corner again?

I fail to see your point.

My point is since when did GD become a grey, humourless landscape? I thought the whole point of Speaker's Corner was that it was a place where only serious discussion void of jokes & memes was allowed.

As for the mods thinking certain jokes being "unacceptable" then I'd like to know why this following post (In the 'Did He Swear' thread) still exists despite being reported by three separate forum members for being offensive...

Why do they all shout out like a bunch of spastics?

It's not 4Chan either.

Different mods have different opinions on what is acceptable. You also have to realise that a single offensive post might not get noticed but when half the page is taken up by 'jokes' it's much easier to delete a high number of posts.

When I read:

"Iceland is taking a very progressive approach that no other democratic country has tried,"

I couldn't help but laugh. Its not progressive, its recessive and if I didn't know it came from Iceland, I would assume it came from a radical and extremist religious group.

Which does not change the fact there should be a consistency across the board. It seems one person can say one thing and be fine and yet if another says it suddenly it's ban hammer time.

no one is saying the mods have to think the same but they have to follow the rules they lay down which they haven't done when you look at the rules - they've made a new one up and then got all mardy about it.

As for this - I don't think you necessarily need porn if you see the quality of women when you go out to the bars in Iceland the stunning views are not isolated to the glaciers.
