I am not sure what to do with this one.

A colleague's missus has gone and dropped her new iPhone in water. Suffice to say the bugger got immersed good and proper and doesn't switch on. Obviously the moisture sensors will have got a good wetting too.

Can anyone tell me how or what they could do next? A visit to the apple store would probably cost a bit I presume?

Put it in rice, just rice on its own, not boiled, straight out fo the packet, leave it for a while.

Chances are its already to late though.

Depends which iPhone

£119 3G/3GS
£139 4/4S
£179 I think iPhone 5

But not too bad a price for a replacement handset and a quick turn around. What about insurance? Have a any cover for the phone etc?

Sorry chaps, it is the iPhone 5 afaik. Thanks for the suggestions. It wasn't insured in any way.

My colleague tells me that his wife rang T-Mobile, and they stated not to goto Apple as the warranty is obviously out the window now. T-Mobile would sort her out with a new phone (not iPhone) for £70 or something leaving the dead iPhone theirs for good.

We will most likely open the thing up on Monday next week to ascertain how bad it all is. It landed in the bog... :o

Another **** and **** covered phone bites the dust then. People need to take them out after sitting on the throne and put them away before getting back up. Sheesh!

Take it Apple, if they deem it out of warranty they will do an out of warranty replacement for £186 for the iPhone 5.

Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPhone that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.

Hmm okies, will mention this to them and see what they say. Not sure if they'll want to pay that amount tbh but we'll see.

Cheers chaps, the help was most appreciated. Porceliamone - agreed lol

Or just use the toilet, not sit there and play on the phone. What is wrong with people?!

i dropped my iphone 4 in my cereal this morning, (coco pops if anyone cares) it got half submerged in chocolatey milk.

i turned it straight off and plonked it on the radiator for a few hours.

it was very hot to touch once i took it off. but booted up fine. smells a bit funky bit im sure that will wear off.

roll on may when i can upgrade.
