Are these rads any good?

Looking to cool my two 680's and a 3770k, got a little project lined up, but not sure if this rad is any good.

Yeah i was thinking that too, but just wondered on build quality and whether or not it's restrictive in any way. ;)

I think there's a new version coming out? Should be better quality.

I have the old version of the 1260 and one of the bleed ports has a very slow leak.

Have the 1080 (45mm original version) and it performs flawlessly. It will cool pretty much anything, even with little fan assistance.

If you are going to use fans on it, cough up the extra £££'s to get a 4 x 180mm mounting plate, then if you so wish 4 x phobya g-silent 18's should only run you ~£7 per fan. You really don't want to be running 9 x 120mm, as you can imagine it'd probably deafen you.

I had a 3 component loop with the 1080 and a thick 360 (XTX) with a 2L res, all running from a single D5 at speed setting 3, that pump well push through anything :D

As is, the 60mm version is running near £60 more then the 45mm version, I'd wager the performance and quality isn't reflected in the price increase. If spending £150+ on a 1080 you should be looking at better brands IMO.

I think the 45-46mm will be enough really, didn't know about the adapter that converts to 4 x 180mm fans, that would be better so it will be quieter.

The rad can't be any bigger than 1080 so 1260 is out of the question. The 1080 seems to be around £80 - £90, plus adapter plates and fans.

Do you think i could run it without fans at all?

Already use a D5 so that's a good thing.

Some good info there chaps, thank you very much. ;)

Should be fine without, do you have mm access? I should have some phobya 1080 bits and bobs I'll be getting rid of shortly including a 180mm plate, fans and a pair of feet ;)

with so little in the loop you will be able to run 120mm fans on minimum (I use XSPC 120mm fans on about 500-600RPM and they are silent) and my water temps rarely go anything above ambient +5C

The have a stand/feet accessories for this rad btw.

The mounts on the stand are useful for reservoirs but only really work with phobya's crappy dcp pumps (same as the EK ones). You can be creative and mount a d5 on there (I have).

Thought about that, but i have the D5 XSPC bay/res, so i'd have to mount all that too...it's something to consider though.

oic.

for that setup I would have the bayres in the pc and run the tubing either out the grommets (if applicable) or drill m20 holes in the case for bulkheads fittings.

Thanks, i'm not really sure how it will be mounted yet, at least until i get more of the required parts.

I do need some quick release couplings recommending though, as i may possibly be using these.

QDC's are essential with the big external rads, koolance QDC's are what you should be looking at, nothing else comes close :)

XSPC 7/16" ID [16/11mm] is the current hose i'm using and will continue to use. Can you link me some Koolance QDC's suitable for this tubing diameter please, obviously from OC shop. :)

they don't do them, all the koolance QDC's that OC stock are here;

they do 10mm / 16mm or 13mm/16mm but not 11mm/16mm

but they do G1/4 threaded ones, so you can buy those and then use whatever G1/4 fittings you are using in the rest of your loop
edit; sorry, the G1/4 ones are all male threaded G1/4's so you'd need G1/4 couplers as well...

one of these;

Buy the 1/2" barbs terminated QDC's, work just fine with 7/16 id, it's what I'm using just now :)

Thanks guys, not 100% what i'm looking at here.

Would Barb be ok, as usually use compression fittings?
