Hi all,

I have a Gigabyte 7970 GHZ Edition (GV-R797TO-3GD) which currently has an F1 bios!

I've had a look on the Gigabyte website, and the latest BIOS is F62!
http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4290#bios

I obviously want to upgrade to that, but if I download the F62, I can't see it through their @BIOS or EasyTune tools...reason being:

Please note:

Gigabyte said:
You can only update to a VBIOS version of the same series.

If your VBIOS version is:

F1, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F2-F9.
F10, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F11-F19.
F20, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F21-F29.

So I need to update sequentially...however, I can't find F2 or any of the older BIOS's on their website???

Any ideas?

Just Flash the new bios using ATI Flash. I would not be updating any bios in Windows anyway least of all a Video Card one.

Use GPU-Z to make a backup of old bios.

Boot in DOS form USB stick with latest Atiflash on it and the Bios you want to flash. ATI Flash can be downloaded form Tech Power Up.

at command prompt type.
Atiflash -p 01 Newbiosname.bin

Where new bios name is what ever you called the new bios and make sure its a .bin file before you flash.

Hmmm...looks like there are two versions of the GHZ edition; slightly different PCB's. Not sure if that F62 is actually the right one TBH!

I have the same card, how do you check your current bios version?
Wonder if its worth flashing it though, I'm having no problems at the moment.
What sort of updates do gpu bios normally contain?

I saw similar questions on another forums. The naming rule of GIGABYTE's BIOS is.
F62
> "6" stands for layout version
> "2" stands for the bios version for specific layout.

coz your graphics card has F2 BIOS, you can't flash F6X obviously.
