Hi

Disconnected the negative lead on my gfs car (1998 Clio) to put in a new stereo.

Once all in, reconnected an although the power goes to the car on turning the key, the car won't start.

Any ideas?

Could it be an immobiliser?

There's a blinking red light on the dash.

Thanks

Switch ignition ON.
Ensure immobilizer LED illuminates for 3-5 seconds.
If LED flashes at regular intervals:
Key code not recognised.
Remove key. Wait 5 seconds and try again.
If LED flashes rapidly, system malfunction has occurred.

But if the led is turning off, after a few seconds with ignition on,.......then the immobilizer is operating normally, and the no start cause is elsewhere........

The battery disconnect may just be coincidental presuming you didnt have an accidental short anywhere.

Warm the keyfob up and try again.
