If you choose an answer to this question at random, what is the chance you will be correct?

A) 25%
B) 50%
C) 60%
D) 25%

E - abstain

(there are 4 options but two are the same, so you have three options and none of the answers are 1/3 so the true answer is 0% :p)

If its continuous, i.e. never exactly a whole %, then its 0. If the answer isn't included in the list its 0. If it is in the list, then its 1/3.

I think

I would say 0% because the questioner decides which answer is correct and these types of questions are aimed primarily at making the answerer look stupid when they get it wrong. :p

I don't know that any of the answers are correct. So it's impossible to say.

If 25% is the correct answer, the question becomes Meta - because that option appears twice, meaning I have a 50% chance of randomly selecting that answer. If I know this information, I become tempted to favour B as the correct answer - because of the 50% chance. If I know this information then I have a 25% chance of randomly selecting B - which means the actual correct answer is 25%. This cycle can go on for ever.

If I'm not selecting an answer at random. The answer is 100% - which isn't one of the options. Meaning I have 0% chance of selecting it. Don't even try to go Meta on that because 0% isn't an option either.

It's all irrelevant though, because I don't even know if ANY of the options are correct.

If the answer if 50% then you only have a 25% chance of guessing right, which means the answer is 25%, which means you have a 50% chance of getting it right :o.

but you arent taking an educated guess you are choosing a random answer without taking the question or answers into consideration ?

The answer isn't a guess, it's the chance of a guess being correct which you're supposed to work out.

That's how I read it anyway, and since it was 5UB that posted it I'm guessing what I posted is what he intended :p.
