Between you and me, they are not guaranteed to lower temps, potentially trapping heat from the board, best solution is some cool air across the board.

Biggest asset of backplate is protecting and stiffening the board ;)
 
Hopefully these come with DP/mDP connections. I prefer my 750D monitor over the Asus one i'm currently using (and probably going to sell, depending on connections on Titan :D)

No backplate though, looks ugly showing all those chips off.

I agree. Once you've had backplates, you don't go back :cool:
 
Well given there's hardly any point to memory overclocks* then there's hardly any point to back plates other than the fact they look quite nice.

*I've benchmarked my system with my ram at 1333, 1600 and 2000 and it made no difference.
